Plone is a content management system that we can customize for you. There is a strong developer community and there are a number of existing plug-ins that we could incorporate for you depending on your needs. Our Plone developers are highly skilled, and have created a number of plone-based customizations for learning environments.

Moodle is an OpenSource course management system that is used by many schools and organizations. There are currently more than 35,000 sites running Moodle. The advantage to Moodle for you is that it would take us less time to get a site up and running for you because there would be less customization required.

Other OpenSource LMSs can be found on the UNESCO list of OpenSource CourseWare tools You may see eduCommons on this list, this is one of the Plone-based tools for learning environments I described above.

Zumia Learning Consultants can help you select the best OpenSource option for you. We’ll set it up, customize it, host it, and then move any existing content you have in your current RoboTutor, existing training manuals, or other places you have content. And, of course, we’ll train your folks to work with it. We will support you in every way as you implement a cost-effective OpenSource solution.

Advantages to working with us:

Our consultants and technologists all hold graduate degrees in Educational Technology and/or Information Systems.

We can provide both pedagogical and technical support.

We are a Utah-owned local business and are here for the long haul.

We can create custom courses to fit the needs of your employees and deliver in a variety of formats, including via mobile devices.

Using OpenSource software will eliminate software licensing fees

There is a new version of eduCommons, a content management system available for preview. It’s in Alpha mode, so be forgiving…

albatross.ed.usu.edu:9000/eduCommons

New features include an integration of all the existent products (Plone Bookmarklets, Content Licensing, ZipFileTransport, IMSTransport) as well as a new product, leftskin, using Plone 3 versions of said products.

This version is mainly to showoff new features that come out of the box in Plone 3. A comprehensive list can be found here at http://plone.org/products/plone/features/3.0

This version is missing the WYSIWYG editor and language translation tools, as the current WISIWYG is being re-evaluated. Both a WYSIWYG editor and language translation tool will be available when eduCommons3 is formally released.
